The Fair Housing Act
prohibits discriminating against because of color, sex, religion, familial
status, nationality or disability. It is against the law to threatening,
intimidating, or interfering with the one’s desire of purchasing or renting
certain property.
In the court case of
Gladstone Realtors v. Village of Bellwood, a real estate firm was taken to
court for steering. The following link provides information about this specific
case
The
Unite States Department of Justice website provides all the necessary information
to avoid any of these rights violations.
Housing
professionals have to be fair when providing services to the public. As long as
the person qualifies for a loan and is capable to acquire a property, agents
and lenders should be prompt and willing to help. It is our fiduciary
obligation, as representatives, to advise and represent our clients in their
best interest
